RHI Increase Finally

33% More RHI for Air Source Heat Pumps!!!!!!    Ofgem have now confirmed that the Renewable Heat Incentive (‘RHI’)

payments for Air Source Heat Pumps will increase by 33% from 20th September 2017 (subject to final parliamentary approval).

New Tarrifs

The new tariffs are shown in the table below:

Technology        Tariff Change
Ground Source Heat Pump     19.86 pence/kWh (previously 19.64 pence/kWh)
Air Source Heat Pumps     10.18 pence/kWh (previously 7.63 pence/kWh)

These increases will apply to all new RHI registrations and anybody who registered for the RHI on or after 14th December 2016 will have their payments automatically uplifted (anybody who registered for the RHI prior to that date will remain on their pre-existing tariff).

NOTE- there will be Head Demand Limits

Ofgem have also confirmed that there will be a cap on domestic RHI payments. This cap will be set at a 20,000 kWh heat demand for Air Source Heat Pumps and 30,000 kWh for Ground Source Heat Pumps. Payments for heat pumps will continue to be made only on the renewable proportion of the heat demand.  These limits will also come into force on 20th September 2017 (subject to the same final parliamentary approval).
